Graphic novel tie-ins for movies and video games may not be a new phenomenon, but there’s usually a good chance that they will delight fans of whatever series they represent regardless. In an unexpected announcement (for Westerners) today, Japanese publishing house PHP stated that they will be releasing a Street Fighter graphic novel called Street Fighter The Novel.

The project is a collaboration between Street Fighter IP holder Capcom and two notable popular Japanese mangaka (manga artists): Takashi Yano (who previously did work on a manga tie-in to Assassin’s Creed 4 titled Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag – Awakening) & Yusuke Murata (who is best known for his work on American Football manga Eyeshield 21 and for the manga adaptation of One’s wildly popular One-Punch Man series). Those familiar with Murata’s work will recognize his stunning visual style in the above video’s teaser trailer.
Street Fighter The Novel will be available for purchase here on March 26, 2016 for ¥1,296 (about $11.59 US). No word has yet been given on an English translation, though if none arises, you can be that faithful fans will do the deed.
