Capcom Carrying Out Discussions About the Future of Their IPs.

During a recent annual meeting with shareholders, Capcom revealed some information about the future of their existing IPs during a Q&A segment of the meeting.

This information comes from Rino on Twitter, who shared the summary document that comes from Capcom which includes sales expansions, strategies in different markets, VR and AR development, and most notably, ports and future plans of their existing IPs such as Mega Man, Resident Evil, and Exoprimal which releases July 14th.  When asked about expansions into new markets such as the PC market, Capcom explains, “We believe it is important to grow long-term sales of catalog titles and further capture new users by pursuing digital sales and enhancing support of the PC, which enjoys a large installation base globally.”  When asked about developments in AR (augmented Reality) and VR (Virtual Reality), Capcom says that they are aware that there is potential in these new technologies and will consider their approach to it while incorporating it into their R&D departments.

When asked about their games and the possibility of ports, Capcom was not giving much detail.  Investors were asking questions regarding the Mega Man, Resident Evil, Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess, Oraware no Paruma, Sengoku BASARA and Onimusha series.  When asked these questions Capcom simply stated,

We are carrying out discussions regarding the future expansion of these titles so they can be enjoyed by a wide audience.

When asked about the future of Mega Man which one of the developers most historic and popular IPs, they said, “we want to take care in how we develop the series. We are onsidering how to approach the production of new entries in the series, which requires numerous factors, including the development of a solid concept, ideas and gameplay, etc.”

With discussions about the future of Capcom’s IPs, the possibilities of remakes or new entires of these series are entirely possible, as we have seen from the recent success of Resident Evil 4 Remake.
