Ever since its initial announcement in September last year, Ace Attorney 6 has had fans of Capcom’s drama-filled, puzzle-solving series eager for more news. And news they did get yesterday on Capcom’s official livestream: Ace Attorney 6 will be releasing in Japan on June 9, 2016.
Capcom also released some “objection”-able content to supplement the release date announcement in the form of not one, but two (2!) trailers. The first trailer catches players up on the events of Ace Attorney 6.
Though the above video is in Japanese, a YouTuber named Bolt2nd has courteously added subtitles for non-Japanese speakers. His video can be viewed here.
So far, we can see that Phoenix Wright has traveled to the distant country of Kurain, which resembles Nepal. There, he investigates a mystic method for uncovering the truth: the “Water Mirror,” which seems to contact the spirits of the dead. Back in Japan, Wright’s protégés Apollo Justice and Athena Cykes, grapple with cases of their own and must learn to prove their clients innocent without the help of Mr. Wright. A familiar face also returns to the series: Maya Fey, Wright’s former assistant. Having traveled to Kurain during the events of Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney: Trials and Tribulations to improve her abilities as a Channeler, Maya rejoins her old companion to help solve crimes.
Miles Edgeworth, Pearl Fey, and Klavier Gavin have also been confirmed to return for Ace Attorney 6.
The second video covers promotional aspects of Ace Attorney 6.
As revealed in the second video above, Ace Attorney 6 will cost ¥5,800 (about $50.89 US) on retail, and ¥5,546 (about $48.66 US) for the digital version. Additionally, an exclusive edition will be available on the Capcom shop for ¥9,100 ($79.84 US), plus tax. This exclusive edition will include the base Ace Attorney 6 game, as well as an original drama CD, a Kuttari plush toy, a tote bag resembling Bokuto’s from the game, a visual poster card book, and an original box.
This video reveals alternate costumes for Athena, Phoenix, and Apollo, which will be available in first-print editions of the game.
Ace Attorney 6 will release on June 9 this year in Japan for the 3DS. No official date has yet been announced for overseas versions of the game. There is, however, an in-browser demo for the game (in Japanese), if you are so inclined.
