Call of the Elder Gods, developed by Out of the Blue Games and published by Kwalee finally dropped this morning. The game is now available on Steam, PS5, Nintendo Switch and Switch 2, Xbox Series X and S, Xbox Cloud and PC, according to the Launch Trailer that dropped alongside the game.
The Launch Trailer tells the story of “Evie Drayton” and “Professor Harry Everhart,” who are trying to find out “what does the elder god want.” The trailer starts with the view of an altar before floating black mist moves from some sort of a lab to cliffs where it now has a face with rock eyes, a mouth, and a semi- rock body. The Game shows a montage of different temple areas, underwater and above ground, and snowy terrains. Then a house with a door containing suspicious signals, an underground tunnel with a ladder, a garden with a statue of a woman, a floating area with a floating book and multiple pictures and memories from the book floating around, pictures of a dark floating creature and more, teasing moments assumably in the game’s storyline.
The story start unveiling as Evie wakes up from a dream, her notepad contains sketches and notes of some of the locations shown earlier, and the narrator notes that she has “strange and disturbing dreams” while some magical and floating areas with books fill the trailer, hinting that Evie’s tied to whatever this is. As the trailer goes on, characters can pick up items to look at like pictures, open doors and interact with the world around them. There’s also the ability to see areas, and help complete game needs. In doing so, Professor Harry is introduced as Evie’s partner for an exploration, they decipher through games and enter interesting locations. The storyline continues as it seems Harry can see “oily shadows” on “walls,” then Harry wakes up in another floating area, before underwater, a head with three tentacles and two claws attach themselves to an all black creature as the trailer ends. As a continuation of Call of the Sea, Call of the Elder Gods invites players to explore a new and transformed game.
