Call Of Duty: Vanguard Officially Announced, Worldwide Reveal Coming August 19 In Warzone Event

The next Call of Duty has been officially revealed. Call of Duty: Vanguard is the next title in the long-running series. We’ve known through reports and leaks that the next game is being developed by Sledgehammer Games and will be set in World War II again. The worldwide reveal is set to take place later this week on Thursday, August 19, at 1:30 am PT in Verdansk during a Warzone event.

There have been reports that to differentiate this Call of Duty from previous entries that have been set during World War II, Vanguard will be set in different timeline where World War II did not end and continued into the 1950s. There are also reports where this isn’t the case and it will be a traditional WWII setting. We’ll find out if these reports are true or not come Thursday.

Similar to last year’s Call of Duty Black Ops: Cold War, Vanguard will be revealed in a themed event inside Call of Duty: Warzone, the franchise’s free-to-play battle royale. Cold War’s reveal took place with a new limited-time game mode called Know Your History. players were tasked with a series of objectives that eventually ended in a nuke dropping on the map, then the official Call of Duty Black Ops: Cold War trailer played. We’ll have to wait and see if something similar happens to reveal Call of Duty: Vanguard.

Sledgehammer Games is back at the helm after developing Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare and Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare. The studio was set to release the 2020 Call of Duty game but they and Raven Software were taken off of the game due to reported “tension” between Raven and Sledgehammer. Development on the 2020 game was handled by Treyarch who developed Call of Duty Black Ops: Cold War.
