Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered’s PC Port is Broken

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered, the game which was originally bundled with last year’s disappointing Infinite Warfare, has finally received a standalone release on PC. Having been much more well-received than the newer game it was released alongside, many would have expected its new Steam page to be filled with nothing but glowing reviews filled with praises for the shooter. According to a recent article from Eurogamer.net, however, quite the opposite seems to be true.

Overall, Modern Warfare Remastered has received a mostly negative user review rating. Players have been complaining about the price of 35 pounds ($40) being too high for a remaster that’s already a year old. On top of that, the PC port suffers from various performance issues, such as terrible framerate issues and unintuitive controls. Factor in the flagrant hacking in multiplayer matches, and the game just isn’t worth the asking price.

Some users on Steam have complained that not only does the remaster do very little to improve on the original Modern Warfare, but all the additional performance issues actually make it worse. One reviewer, Blazeris The Cat, wrote:

At this point, I’m just gonna stick with the original COD4, where that game still has the great netcode and just really good nostaliga feel.

This release comes as a serious disappointment to many fans who were excited to hear about the remaster ever since it was first announced a year ago. There seems to be a common perception among PC gamers that publisher Activision is more focused on making great console games while treating PC ports as an afterthought. Seeing how little support the PC version has received since launch, its just been adding fuel to the negative view of Activision.

With Call of Duty: WWII’s release date of November 3rd inching closer and closer, PC gamers are wondering if this will be the one that breaks Activision’s terrible PC port streak. Gamers will have to wait and see.
