Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Remastered Receives a Rating in South Korea

Seemingly out of nowhere last night, a rating for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Remastered has appeared on the South Korean Game Rating and Administrating Committee’s site. Titled as “Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Campaign Remastered” the rating may indicate what the potential game means should it ever come out. We may be in for a remaster of the main campaign from Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2.

In addition, the name “Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Campaign Remastered.” was also rated last year by the UK Ratings Board. With the game being rated in two different regions at two different times, it’s more than likely that Activision will be announcing something in the near future. Fans can play the current iteration of the game via backwards compatibility on Xbox One, and it’s also available to play on PC.

Before this, the fourth game in the series, Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare got the remastered treatment in 2016, which went onto be well received. However, from what we can tell in the new rating, this version of Modern Warfare 2 won’t have the signature multiplayer that made it a major powerhouse. These things are always subject to change, however, and we wouldn’t be surprised if Activision included this alongside the campaign.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 was arguably the high point for developer Infinity Ward. Not long after the game’s release, both Vince Zampella and Adam West were removed from the company in an infamous incident that shook the video gaming community. Since then, Zampella founded Respawn Entertainment which produced the popular Titanfall series, the critically acclaimed Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, and the battle royale free-to-play game Apex Legends. Infinity Ward would continue on without the duo, adding Call of Duty: Ghosts, Modern Warfare 3, Infinite Warfare, and the recent reboot of Modern Warfare.
