Without a doubt, one of the most requested video games to be added to Xbox One’s backwards compatibility is Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2. While many Call of Duty games have made it to backwards compatibility, Modern Warfare 2 for some reason, has evaded the service ever since it was first introduced, until now. Microsoft announced yesterday that the newest game to join the BC Program will be Modern Warfare 2, which you can play on the Xbox One right now!
ICY…oh never mind. Looks like everyone has seen this today 😀 “Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is now available for Xbox One” https://t.co/X1XLcU0zE2

Originally released in 2009, the sequel to the popular Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare was under a lot of pressure to measure up to its predecessor. It not only beat expectations, it blew them out of the water, becoming one of the most successful entertainment releases of all time. It eventually became the most played multiplayer game on consoles for the year, surpassing Halo 3 and Modern Warfare. Despite multiple iterations of Call of Duty games releasing in the 9 years since it came out, many fans still go back to the addicting, adrenaline pumping multiplayer of Modern Warfare 2.
In terms of story, it continues two years after the events of Modern Warfare, with the conflict escalating into full blown war. You play as three different soldiers in linear levels, shooting your way out of intense situations, with some fantastic set pieces as the backdrop of the skirmish you’re fighting in. If you own the game physically, then all you have to do is pop that disc into your Xbox One and your good to go, and if you own it digitally then you need to download it from the Xbox Live Store. Speaking of which, the Live store is currently discounting Modern Warfare 2 for $14.99 in celebration of its backwards compatibility for the system. The servers for the game are currently flooded with incoming players, old and new, so don’t be surprised if you have trouble trying to get into a match. If you haven’t played this all time classic multiplayer game, then now’s the best time to give it a try.
