Recently, there has been a rumor going around that Ice-T, the famous actor and rapper will have a part to play in Borderlands 3. This rumor has been confirmed through demo playthroughs showing off the new character BALEX. BALEX is an AI who is trapped in the body of a teddy bear and asks the player to assist him in a quest to kill his ex-wife, who is also an AI. Little more is known about what role BALEX will have in the game, however, more information will be known once the game releases.
For those who don’t know, Borderlands is a first person shooter action role playing game series developed by Gearbox Software and published by 2k Games. The series follows the exploits of the player as they traverse the alien world of Pandora in search of riches. In each game, the player is a type of treasure hunter known as a Vault Hunter. A Vault Hunter seeks out a vault that supposedly holds a cache of ancient alien technology. The game series has numerous features including an open-world design, character classes, and lots and lots of weapons to choose from.
Borderlands 3 will have some rather unique features. The game will include four playable vault hunters: Moze, Amara, FL4k, and Zane, each with their own abilities and backstories. Unfortunately, Borderlands 3 will not have crossplay available to players immediately. This doesn’t mean it won’t be implemented later on, however, it does mean that players who have friends with a different console will be unable to play the game with them at the same time. Another new feature that will be added is the Guardian Rank mechanic. Similar to previous games that held a Badass Rank mechanic, the Guardian Rank mechanic will allow players to progress their stats beyond the level 50 capacity. It will also reward players with new skills and skins when they complete a campaign.
Borderlands 3 will be available on September 13th, 2019, for the Google Stadia, Microsoft Windows, Playstation 4, and Xbox One. The Super Deluxe Edition is available for pre-order with a price of $99.99, and $59.99 for the regular edition.
