Do you enjoy roguelikes? How about Bomberman-esque? Now, how does all of that sound but packaged into a wild west theme? If that’s got your attention, then Bombslinger might just be the game for you, and luckily, Bombslinger has just hit digital stores around the world starting today.
Bombslinger is a pixel, action-maze, rouguelike game that puts you in the shoes of Bombslinger McMean. In classic Spaghetti Western fashion, McMean is an ex-posse member with a turn of heart. After losing his ranch and wife to his brother’s old gang of misfits, the bombslinger sets out on a journey for some payback by blowing up those who wronged him. Travel through procedurally generated levels, collect items, open chests, level up, and fight a wide variety of enemies with bombs, guns, tomahawks, and more. At the end of each level, fight an old member of your gang and fulfill your quest of revenge.
In addition to the main game, players also have the ability to go against each other with a side game mode. With up to four players locally, gamers can pick up items, kick bombs, roll to cover, and avoid bomb paths to become the last man standing in multiple game modes.
Mode4, the developers of Bombslinger, are two-man indie studio from Brussels, Belgium. All of the levels, characters, music, story, and just about everything was just from the hard work of two enthusiastic game developers. “Bombslinger is an absolute blast,” says Ferry Keesom, co-founder, programmer and designer of Mode4, in a press release. “When players face off against their friends in the chaotic multiplayer or experience the single-player campaign, they’ll recognize modern design elements incorporated into this classic genre.”
Bombslinger is now available on digital storefronts for the Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, for $11.99, and the PC version is currently on sale on Steam for $9.59 until April 18.
