Blizzard Releases 2017 Charity Pet Early in Response to World Wide Disasters

Things are looking dire, with three hurricanes (Harvey, Irma, Jose) an Earthquake, flooding in South Asia and the fires raging through the American countryside, it feels like we are living during the climax of a climate disaster movie like Geostorm. Unfortunately it seems unlikely that Dwayne Johnson, as incredible as he is, is about to swoop down from helicopter and save us. Gamers, on the other hand, seem to be throwing down all the chips in a bid to do as much good as possible.  Two weeks ago we reported that Games Done Quick held an event to raised money for Harvey Relief, and today Blizzard announced that they would be releasing their 2017 charity pet ahead of schedule in response to the disasters going on world wide.

For every Shadow fox adopted between now and December 31, 2017, 100% of the $10 USD adoption fee will be donated to both American Red Cross Disaster Relief and the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) Disaster Relief Fund.

World of Warcraft offers a myriad of in-game pets for players to buy, via their online store, and has in the past released a charity event during their convention Blizzcon. The full cost of every pet sold between September 12th and December 31st 2017, will be split evenly between the two charities. The American Red Cross Disaster Relief of course helps people with medical care and emergency services throughout the United States, and the IFRC responds to disasters across the globe.

You can support these fund raising efforts by ‘adopting’ one of these shadow foxes here.
