BioWare general manager Casey Hudson has revealed some new projects in the company’s horizon in a studio update posted to the company’s blog after “a super busy summer at the studio.” Hudson teased the “super-secret” projects as “big”, though he didn’t give any specific information about the titles. He mentioned that one of the projects “has a large and growing team in Edmonton working through pre-production” and hinted “indeed the Dread Wolf rises.” This is a reference to Dragon Age: Inquisition character Solas, suggesting that Solas will be the central character in the next Dragon Age game, following past hints toward this in the Trespasser DLC for Dragon Age: Inquisition. It isn’t clear when these “super-secret” projects would be coming out, but considering the potential Dragon Age title is still in pre-production, it may be a while.
New secret projects weren’t the only thing Hudson discussed in his post. He discussed the Cataclysm events in Anthem and his team’s dedication to working toward “the longer-term version of the game” while still “[delivering] updates to features and content.” He then talked briefly about Star Wars: The Old Republic, sharing his excitement for the upcoming Onslaught expansion pack coming to the game this fall, calling it “an ambitious update.”
Hudson then talked about the company’s recent move from their Edmonton office into “a brand-new state-of-the-art facility in the thriving ICE District downtown.” The new space is “custom-designed from the ground up for the future of game development” with the help of EA, who has owned BioWare since 2007.
Lastly, Hudson mentioned BioWare’s job openings, inviting people to join the team in both their Edmonton and Austin offices. This comes after BioWare gained attention for uploading a few new job listings on LinkedIn back in January of this year, to get more people working on the Dragon Age franchise.
