BioWare is “100% Committed” to Anthem, Developing New Content

Today on Twitter BioWare executives made it a point to express their ongoing interest in their newest sci-fi loot shooter Anthem. These statements come after new reports that development support and staff are being moved over to work on Dragon Age 4. BioWare’s Head of Live Service Chad Robertson assured Anthem’s player base that BioWare remains “100% committed to Anthem.” Additionally, the team will be holding off on sharing what they’re working on for Anthem’s future until they have things close to finalized.

Robertson went on to say on Twitter that a “big team” is working on developing new content for Anthem in both their Edmonton and Austin studios, and specified that the teams in both locations are dedicated to “improving the game.”

Anthem’s Lead Producer Mike Gamble also posted to Twitter that contrary to reports, BioWare is sticking to Anthem for the long haul.

Anthem’s development team acknowledged that it could do a better job of communicating with their fanbase. In April Lead Producer Ben Irving and Chad Robertson posted to Reddit to directly communicate that several planned updates were being delayed, including the Cataclysm event.

We Believe in Anthem. We believe the game will be great, but we recognize getting there will take a lot of hard work. We want to do that work and we want you all to join us on the journey to get there.

Anthem released in February, and while the game sold fairly well its development and launch were pretty tumultuous. Much has been said about the struggles the team faced to get Anthem in good enough shape to release on time, including completely changing course (and even the title of the game) several times during development. Surely there’s a lot to do to make sure that the game survives its first year, but BioWare is really doing their best to make it clear that they are not leaving Anthem behind.

Angel Tuohy: I'm a fan of a lot of different games in different genres, and my favorites are Dark Souls, Final Fantasy, Street Fighter, Tekken, Persona, Resident Evil, and NieR. I think games are a brilliant way to tell a story, but it's important to me that the game is fun to play too. I've recently received my Master's degree in Literature.
