Bethesda Pledges $1 Million to Coronavirus Relief

As told in their most recent blog post, Bethesda Softworks, ZeniMax Media, and the studios connected with them have all come together and pledged total of $1 million dollars to COVID-19 relief. These companies are responsible for many popular franchises such as Doom, Fallout, and The Elder Scrolls, along with having small parts in many other game productions. Along with many other companies and games they have joined in on the “Relief Done Quick“, which provides funds and resources to people hit the worst by the virus and vaccine research.

The money will reportedly be split between several different organizations such as Direct Relief, UNICEF, and “other local COVID-19 relief efforts within the communities where we work and live.” The company also stated that they will be allowing fans of their games to assist with the cause by adding in their donations as well. With their plan to launch the #BethesdaAtHome campaign, the company will be streaming from their homes and offer people the opportunity to help donate to the same charities. These streams can be watched on Bethesda.net, their social media channels, or their twitch channel as well. Towards the end of their post, Bethesda also encourages fans with this paragraph, saying

Whether it’s playing games, watching streams, or however you’re choosing to stay active during these challenging times, we encourage you to find ways to stay connected to others while we continue to observe social distancing guidelines in an effort to keep everyone safe and healthy.

Bethesda is not the first company to pledge their earnings towards the fight against COVID-19, with many other companies (and even Youtubers) like Rockstar, Niantic, and Microsoft, putting their hands into the relief efforts as well. Recently, the UK Government also enlisted the help of different gaming companies to push the “Stay Home, Save Lives” slogan to help people take up the act of social distancing and only leaving their houses when necessary to slow the spread.
