Batman: Return To Arkham Coming July 26th, Includes Both Arkham Asylum And Arkham City

Looking to dive back into Rockstedy’s uber popular Arkham series, but don’t have access to a last-gen console, now you can!

The first two Arkham games will join the ranks of current-gen remasters of popular titles with Batman: Return To Arkham on July 26th. Why not watch a trailer to celebrate?

Yes, you heard right, the bundle will only include Arkham Asylum and Arkham City. The prequel Batman: Arkham Origins will still only be available on PC and last-gen consoles. This could be due to the fact that the game was poorly received or that it wasn’t developed by Rocksteady.

Early rumors about the remaster started popping up last month when the news was leaked by Gamestop employee. The leak said that the remaster will be optimized for Xbox One and PS4. This turned out to be true as the press release says the games will be making the jump from Unreal Engine 3 to 4. With that upgrade comes improved graphics as well as better models, environments, lighting, effects and shaders. All the things you would want in a remaster.

Sadly it looks like Return to Arkham won’t making a return to PC as the site and press release make no mention of Steam version. This could be due to the poor taste the PC ports of Arkham Knight and Arkham Origins left in fans’ mouths.

The game itself was not done in house by Rocksteady and was instead farmed out to the relatively unknown studio Virtuos. This isn’t Virtuos’s first remaster either, looking at their website, the company also had hand in Heavy Rain HD and the Final Fantasy X and X-2 remaster.  The studio also worked on Rey’s speeder and several other major characters in Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

Batman: Return to Arkham will be out on July 26th for Xbox One and PS4. The remaster will include both Batman: Arkham Asylum and Batman: Arkham City as well as all DLC for both games for $50.

Telltale games is also taking stab at the Dark Knight with their own series which is slated for release sometime this summer.
