It was officially revealed that Rocksteady Studios will be releasing an HD Collection of the Batman: Arkham Trilogy for PS4 and Xbox One. Titled Batman: Return to Arkham, the HD rerelease will have all the games of the Arkham Trilogy including Batman: Arkham Asylum, Batman: Arkham City, and Batman: Arkham Knight. The news was leaked by a Gamestop employee sending a picture of the game to Eurogamer.
The leaks were made official on April 19th, as Batman: Return to Arkham now has a PEGI listing. The listing can’t be seen on the website now, but Eurogamer were able to get a screenshot while it was up.
It looks as though Return to Arkham won’t include Batman: Arkham Origins, most likely because the game was developed by Warner Brothers’ Montreal Studio and the rest of the series was made by Rocksteady. Arkham Origins is sort of the black sheep of the series, and since it’s a prequel it’s technically not part of the main story.
Return to Arkham is set to release on PS4 and Xbox One on June 10th. All DLC for the games will also be included in the collection, so you’re getting plenty of content like characters, challenge maps, and new story campaigns. What’s most interesting about Return to Arkham is how the improved visuals for Arkham Asylum and Arkham City look. The games were already in HD, but considering how good Arkham Knight looks, I’m sure they’ll look great. Most HD Collections mostly make aesthetic changes like The Uncharted Collection, but you never know if small improvements could be made to the gameplay.
Batman: Arkham Returns sounds like a great way to honor the work Rocksteady has done for the series. They have created the best Batman Games, and some of the best action adventure games ever. New players can play through the entire story, and fans can relieve the trilogy in glorious HD.
