Baldur’s Gate: Siege of Dragonspear Opening Cutscene Released

Baldur’s Gate: Siege of Dragonspear, a contemporary expansion on the classic RPG series from the early 90’s,  releases this month for Windows, iOS, Mac, Android, and Linux on March 31st. The game is being developed by Beamdog, originally known as Overhaul games, and is headed by post-BioWare co-founders and lead programmers. As we had previously reported, the game will contain script and dialogue by esteemed writer, David Gaider–of Dragon Age and Star Wars: Knight of the Old Republic fame.

In this new expansion, developers at Beamdog look to overlap the gaps between Baldur’s Gate 1 and Baldur’s Gate 2, which Beamdog had re-released as an Enhanced Edition back in 2013.

This expansion will focus on a warrior known as the Shining Lady who leads a crusade in the north. Beamdog has gone out of their way to make Baldur’s Gate a fun gaming experience on modern consoles. In order to do this, developers appeared to have made the game from the ground up.

Devs have previously emphasized that players need not have experience or played through Baldur’s Gate 1 or 2 to join in on the Siege of Dragonspear fun. Players who choose to partake in this new adventure will enjoy 25 hours of new gameplay, get to explore 70 new areas, 4 new companion characters, and the ability to import a saved file–including your initial line up of companion characters. This will offer a lot to returning players!

We can look forward to playing  Baldur’s Gate: Siege of Dragonspear on Windows, iOS, Mac, Android, and Linux on March 31st.
