Today, Ubisoft has revealed their plans for Assassin’s Creed Valhalla post-launch. Like Assassin’s Creed Origins and Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, Valhalla will have two big expansions and a lot of other free content that will be available to all players. The two big expansions are part of the Season Pass. Season 1 begins later this year in December where access to free seasonal content and in-game events will be made available.
The first expansion, Wrath of the Druids, has players journey to Ireland where they will unravel the mysteries of an ancient and mysterious druidic cult, tracking and discovering their members. Players will dive into Gaelic myths and folklore while fighting their way through haunted forests and dazzling landscapes while gaining influence among Gaelic kings. It is set to arrive in Spring 2021.
The second expansion will be released in Summer 2021. Titled The Siege of Paris, players will have the chance to relive the most ambitious battle in Viking history with key historical figures of war-torn Frankia. Players will infiltrate the fortified city of Paris and the River Seine under a prolonged siege, uncover enemy secrets, and form strategic alliances to safeguard their clan’s future.
Free content coming in Season 1 includes a new settlement area, allowing players to continue to grow and evolve their settlement. A traditional Viking Festival, the Yule Festival, for players to experience in their settlement. The River Raids is a new game mode that builds off the main game’s core raiding mechanic. The mode will deliver a dynamic, challenging, and highly replayable raid experience. Ranks will be added to Jomsviking which are lieutenants that players create to be a part of their raiding crew. You can share your creations with friends and the community as well as recruit their creations. The addition of Ranks to Jomsviking allows them to earn XP and rank up. The higher the rank, the more silver players will earn when recruited by other players. Season 1 and future Seasons will introduce new player skills and abilities; weapons and gear; and cosmetic items for the settlement, longship, horse, and raven. Season 2 brings in a new combat game mode, another Jomsviking update, and settlement festivals, along with new gear and cosmetic items. Season 2 will be released in March 2021. Details on Season 3 will be revealed at a later date.
The Season Pass for Assassin’s Creed Valhalla is included in the Gold, Ultimate, and Collector Editions of the game or it can be purchased separately. It includes access to the two expansions as well as an exclusive quest, The Legend of Beowulf, which is available on launch day. Like Origins and Odyssey, Assassin’s Creed Valhalla will also have the Discovery Tour mode which lets players explore and interact with the environment conflict-free. The Discovery Tour will come to the game in 2021.
Assassin’s Creed Valhalla launches on November 10 for Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, and Stadia. The PlayStation 5 version releases on November 12 and the Luna version will be available with the launch of the Ubisoft channel on the platform.
