The Pokémon Company has recently announced two upcoming distribution events of Ash’s Pikachu and mythical Pokémon Marshadow for Pokemon Sun and Moon.
Initially, Marshadow wasn’t available in the Sun and Moon games, but in April 2017 The Pokémon Company’s official YouTube channel released a trailer confirming the mythical Pokémon’s existence.
Since then, some players have released unofficial footage of the Pokémon in battles performing its signature Z-move as well. If fans want a chance to grab the official version of Marshadow themselves, they will have to wait until its release next month in October. Similar to past distributions like that of Salazzle in August, Gamestop will be distributing codes for Marshadow that players can enter into their games using the Mystery Gift feature. Official instructions on the website have been given on how to obtain the Pokémon in-game along with specific details on its move-set, level, abilities, and held item the Marshadium Z crystal.
Marshadow:
- Level 50
- Ability: Technician
- Held Item: Marshadium Z
- Moves: Spectral Theif, Close Combat, Force Palm, Shadow Ball
Mystery Gift Instructions:
- Select Mystery Gift on the main menu.
- Select Recieve Gift
- Select Get with Code/Password and connect to the internet
- Enter your password
- Receive Marshadow gift
- Start the game and speak to the Mystery Gift delivery person to receive Marshadow in-game
- Save the game to ensure you don’t lose your new Pokémon!
The Pokémon Company will also be distributing variations of Ash’s Pikachu from September-October 2017 in anticipation for the North American release of Pokémon The Movie: I choose You!. Ash’s Pikachu will be distributed wearing different versions of Ash’s hat from each region from Kanto to Alola. Players can obtain one of the Pikachu’s through a single-use code, and the version players receive will depend on the date they enter the code:
- 9/19/17 – 9/25/17 Original hat (Kanto and Johto regions)
- 9/26/17 – 10/2/17: Hoenn region hat
- 10/3/17 – 10/9/17: Sinnoh region hat
- 10/10/17 – 10/16/17: Unova region hat
- 10/17/17 – 10/23/17: Kalos region hat
- 10/24/17 – 10/30/17: Alola region hat
In addition to these Pikachu’s, players who attend screenings of Pokémon The Movie: I choose You “will receive a QR code that will grant you a Pikachu wearing the hat that Ash wears in the movie.” Players can activate this code in the upcoming games Pokémon Ultra Sun and Pokémon Ultra Moon.
Marshadow’s distribution event runs from October 9-October 23 2017 and Ash’s Pikachu event runs from September 19-October 30 2017.
Pokémon Ultra Sun and Pokémon Ultra Moon will be released November 17, 2017.
