Apex Legends Surpasses 25 Million Players, Will Have New Content in Upcoming Weeks

In its first week, new smash hit Apex Legends not only exceeded Fortnite in terms of Twitch viewership, but also exceeded several milestones in the process. In blog post addressed to fans on the Apex Legends website, Respawn Entertainment CEO Vince Zampella gave an update to the popular title and its remarkable week one achievements, among which is the fact that the game blew past 25 million in player base and hit 2 million concurrent players in its first week.

Zampella opens his post by highlighting the importance of the Apex community, as the game’s success can largely be attributed to the players that are “full of great feedbacks and ideas.” Like with any long-term multiplayer game, the changes will largely reflect the experiences of its players and how they respond to new balances and additions.

Respawn’s CEO then goes on to mention some key events that are coming up for the game. First, the Twitch-sponsored “Twitch Rivals Apex Legends Challenge” will be held on February 12 and February 19, pitting 48 of the top streamers against each other. The event will be co-streamed by Apex’s Twitch channel as well. A new Valentine’s Day event will also appropriately introduce some love-themed loot next week. Finally, Zampella reminds players that Season One launches in March alongside the inaugural Battle Pass, new Legends, cosmetic items, weapons, and more.

As usual with all of these update letters, Zampella ends the update with a big thank-you to the players of the game, for making the game as successful as it’s been. Apex Legends’s meteoric rise in popularity is not without reason. The game is being touted as the most polished and well-executed battle royale to date, and with further player feedback, balancing, and new additions, the game has the potential to become the peak of the genre.
