During the latest devstream by Respawn celebrating the one year anniversary of Apex Legends, the developers shared the first details for the next season titled Assimilation. They revealed the next Legend, the new weapon, and the changes coming to Ranked Mode in the next season.
To celebrate the one-year anniversary of Apex Legends, Respawn is giving out free login gifts when season 4 launches in February. The Apex Legends Anniversary Gift will be available from February 4-February 11. It includes:
- Year 1 Origami Flyer charm
- Year 1 Loyalty badge (3 different flavors)
- 10k XP for the first match of the day (available each day)
The newest Legend coming into the game is Forge, a former MMA Champion who will play as a brawler who wants to get up close and personal. He is the first character in the game who will be corporate-sponsored, playing on the thematic in-world idea that it’s a game. Forge is sponsored by Hammond Robotics which is a company that is part of Titanfall which is the universe where Apex Legends takes place.
The Sentinel is the newest weapon that’ll be coming into the game. It is a different type of sniper rifle in that it will come with a charge mechanic.
The biggest changes coming to Ranked Series 3 is the addition of a new tier and splits. Master Tier is the newest tier between Diamond and Apex Predator. It will cost the same amount of RP as Apex Predator was but the Apex Predator Tier will now be exclusive to the top 500 players per platform.
Respawn said: “At the top of the competitive ladder we’re seeing many more players make the climb into Apex Predator. This means it’s really hard to showcase the skill between any two Apex Predators this season.” The developers also point out that you can get demoted out of Apex Predator into Master if another player earns more RP than you. “We feel this should give more prestige to making and keeping your Apex Predator rank, while still keeping the tiers above Diamond very exclusive.”
Ranked Series 3 will be divided into two splits. Each split will be played on a different map. After the split ends, there will be a soft reset. Split 1 takes place on World’s Edge from February 3-March 23. Split 2 will see the return of King’s Canyon from March 24-May 5. Ranked rewards will be given for the highest tier achieved in either split. Exclusive animated badges are rewarded if you earn the same tier on both splits.
Assimilation will start on February 4, 2020, the same day Apex Legends was revealed and launched last year.
