Animal Crossing’s Summer Wave 2 Update Brings Fireworks and Dreaming to Islanders

Announced earlier this summer as a part of Animal Crossing New Horizon’s two-part update, the latest free expansion brings fireworks, dreaming and more to island residents. The previous summer update included deep-sea diving and swimming and brought back the previous “Mermaid Collection” of furniture from prior Animal Crossing titles. With a promise from the original trailer for a second summer-themed update releasing at the beginning of August, the official trailer for the second expansion has arrived. Starting on July 30th, players will be able to attend weekly firework shows every Sunday on their islands. Players will be able to create their own unique fireworks in addition to the default fireworks included in the game. Along with the weekly firework show, Redd will be dropping by town plazas for players to participate in his raffle game to earn random prizes.

Similar to the first wave of content, the newest expansion will be bringing a new mechanic not previously seen in Animal Crossing games with the new dreaming feature that occurs when choosing the sleep option while in bed. Players will travel to a dream world where they will be guided by Luna to random “dream islands” from across the world. Players can list their own islands as a “dream island” for other players to visit on their own times during their dreams.

Along with the announcement of fireworks events and dreaming, players can now cloud-save and backup their islands. Nintendo announced that a new function is being added along with the new cloud-save feature, “a function specific to Animal Crossing: New Horizons to move users and save data to another system is planned for later this year. Details will be announced in the future.” The final summer update will be releasing on July 30th, with a Fall update planned for later in the year.
