Another MMO was announced at The Game Awards, but this time it’s a brand new project from Amazon Games Studios, formerly Double Helix. New World was briefly shown at the event, and despite being their first foray into the world of online gaming, it looks like it has plenty of promise. The company has some experience with other titles in the past such as Killer Instinct, so it will be interesting to see how this one comes about.
The game is set on an island called Aeternum, where it is filled with multiple fantasy like settings and characters, including some warriors from ancient civilizations. As with other MMO’s, you’ll make your own character from the ground up and travel around the area while learning more and leveling up. The trailer shows a mysterious statue head with a glowing red object attached to it, which will more than likely play a huge part in the main storyline. Either way, Amazon Games is out to make a name for themselves, and they’re off to a good start. You can sign up for the Beta here.
