Geoff Keighley graced our presence again with a livestream today to announce the nominees for the game awards. The panel of a global jury of 120 media outlets vote for both the nominees and eventual winners. There was much anticipation to see if people were correct in who would get what nominations but there are some clear favorites this year. Alan Wake 2 has the tied most nominations with Baldur’s Gate 3 with 8 total. Its very interesting to point out that 3 of the 6 game of the year nominees were titles released in October, making it one of the biggest months of the year including the likes of sleeper pick Alan Wake 2, Super Mario Bros. Wonder, and Marvel’s Spider-Man 2.
Last year’s game awards also saw a stacked class of games with Elden Ring emerging as the Game of the year, but this year the race looks to be almost anyone’s guess as to who will do well at the awards. Many are still predicting that Larian Studios, Baldurs Gate 3 will sweep the awards, but before that it was Tears Of The Kingdom, but now as we inch closer to the awards there is much hype and adoration towards Alan Wake 2. To see the winners, world premieres, and many more tune in on December 7th to view the 10th anniversary of the game awards.
