Afterparty Is A Game About Out-Drinking Satan, And It Just Got A Debut Trailer

The developers of Night School Studio, who are responsible for the beloved mystery adventure game Oxenfree, are back at it again. This time it’s Afterparty, a game where players follow two friends Lola and Milo, who must escape from hell by out-drinking Satan. Don’t believe me? That’s alright, because the debut trailer just came out.

Lola and Milo were killed and sent to hell, and their best way out is through an incredible feat of binge drinking. The idea stems from the fact that they’re permanently stuck in hell until they act upon an open opportunity, so when the chance to escape came about, the two protagonists leaped at it without a second thought. Lord Satan must simply be out-drank for the two to return back home, and it seems like the journey takes them through a number of different barhopping adventures.

Those familiar with Oxenfree will note that the gameplay seems quite similar. A narrative adventure is at the forefront, only now, there’s clubs, booze, and some demonic forces intertwined. Players retain autonomy, as each step towards escaping the fiery pits will be up to the individual, and choices certainly matter. Between beers, a mystery as to why the protagonists have been sent to eternal damnation will begin to unravel, as players will need to connect the dots.

This game is certainly one to keep an eye on, which players of Oxenfree already know. It’s not clear what platforms it will be released on, but based on Night School’s previous games, it’s likely that all PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One users will be covered. There is no set release date yet, but the game is projected to come out in 2019.
