Abyss Of Kings, A New Indie Game, Coming In 2027

With a new Announcement trailer, an indie game Abyss of Kings, will be released in 2027. With black and white graphics and dialogue screens, it’s like a flash from the past, bringing back early black and white adventure games.

Abyss of Kings is under Star Banner Games, and the company presents a game where players can Explore the remnants of an underground civilization and battle sentient chess pieces. Discover magical rings and use them to create your own spells. Meet the last inhabitants of a dead kingdom and escape the Abyss,” according to the description section on Steam. Following such an interesting premise the official trailer brings the description to life.

The Official Announcement Teaser Trailer runs through the world of Abyss. The first-person player is attacking giant moving chess pieces with a sword. Once the sword hits a chess piece, it bursts into white eyes. We see the viewpoint of “Helena” the game’s presumably protagonist, who wonders through trapped hallways, and battles the bouncing chess pieces.

With changing weapons, such as a crossbow and a glowing medallion, Helena falls into traps and transverses through a forest. Some game mechanics are shown as Helena while holding the medallion throws fireballs at chess pieces to destroy them. Levers open locked mine doors, chests give special items and special walkways need to be unlocked to go through.

As the trailer continues, Helena fights chess pieces on floors with red cracks on it, opens a chess with a “Band of Plurality.” The trailer moves to an equip screen where the “Band of Plurality” is dragged from a collection of rings and fitted onto the middle finger. Helena then blows up multiple chess pieces. Multiple rings with different abilities such as the “Blue Crystal Ring,” “Combustion Ring” and “Thunder Ring” are equipped and used to fight against the chess pieces. To round off the trailer, Helena tries to “Escape The Abyss”  through an underground mine, locked door,  wandering through shrubs and another door to leave the Abyss. The Abyss of Kings is available to Wishlist on Steam.
