A PlayStation PC Launcher May Be Coming In The Future

With the release of Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered on PC, there have been numerous things discovered in the game’s files. One of the things that’s been found is references to a “PlayStation PC launcher.” VGC has verified the files and has seen the reference to the PlayStation PC launcher. Other things discovered in Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered game files are references to a possible multiplayer mode for Marvel’s Spider-Man and that PlayStation Network integration may be coming to its PC games.

As of now, no PlayStation Studios title on PC allows connectivity with PSN accounts. Reports say that players linking to their PlayStation Network account to specific games will be offered in-games bonuses as a reward for doing so. Multiple references to “PSNAccountLinked” and “PSNLinking Entitlements” were found in Marvel’s Spider-Man files.

Microsoft offers games to purchase on its own store but they also release games on PC platforms such as Steam. PlayStation PC launcher could be something like that and just be a bespoke version of the PlayStation Store or it can be like Rockstar’s PC launcher. Rockstar requires a reduced version that needs to be active in order to verify the game.

According to VGC, the multiplayer mode would allow a second player to take control of Miles Morales with his unique loadout abilities in various activities. The multiplayer mode would also include a PvP mode and a PvE game mode “Free For All”. The multiplayer mode would be separate from the Single Player campaign. The files suggest that the game would not be available at the start and would be unlocked after either beating the game or it would be a download as additional content. Whether or not a multiplayer mode would be available for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is something we’ll have to wait and see.

Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered on PC has become the second biggest launch for PlayStation Studio title on Steam behind God of War (2018). With the success of PlayStation Studio titles on PC, it seems likely that a PlayStation PC launcher and more is coming. What shape and form that takes is anyone’s guess.
