With the COVID-19 pandemic worsening in many parts of the world, Capcom has decided to go ahead and cancel the Capcom Cup 2020. It was originally supposed to be held in the Dominican Republic from February 19-21 of 2021. Instead, they are planning to hold an online season final from February 20 to 21. More details are forthcoming in the next few weeks.
While we strongly believe that we could have executed a great event with limited risk to players, staff, and crew, we have reevaluated as the situation has evolved and the state of this global pandemic has heightened.
For those that do not know, the Capcom Cup 2020 features two season finales: The Street Fighter League Finals and the Capcom Pro Tour Finals. The original plan was to hold the former on February 19, 2021, and the latter on February 20-21, 2021. With the new plans, these are being changed to an online-only format to hopefully be on February 20 and 21. More details about these changes will be found here in the coming weeks.
Due to the rising cases of COVID-19 worldwide we have made the difficult decision to cancel #CapcomCup. In its place we will be producing an online season final for #CapcomProTour February 20th and 21st. Details following: pic.twitter.com/3WsObiSFVA

This announcement follows the fate of the Capcom Pro Tour for 2020, which was supposed to begin in March of 2020 and unfortunately coincided with the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic in America. It was then forced to move entirely online due to safety and travel concerns. Now the finale of that tour, which would usually be held in the same year, was pushed to 2021 in hopes of being able to host an in-person event. Unfortunately, that had to be moved online as well.
In December, Capcom released a video for this event. Obviously, some of these plans have changed since then.
