BioWare is set to reveal updates for their major IP Anthem and Dragon Age. Earlier today, Geoff Keighley, the host and creator of The Game Awards, took to Twitter to announce that there will be a new trailer for BioWare’s newest game at this year’s event.

Anthem was first teased at Electronic Arts’ EA Play event in 2017 before having a full reveal at Microsoft’s E3 press conference the next day. The sci-fi shooter is a brand new IP from BioWare that is set to fall into the “games as a service” model. Along with the news of an impending new trailer at The Game Awards next week, it was announced that a private alpha for the game for PlayStation 4, PC, and Xbox One is set to run the weekend following the event on December 8 and 9. There will be a limited number of spots for the alpha, so hopeful fans can sign up for the alpha on EA’s official playtesting site. Anthem is set for release on February 22, 2019.
The Dragon Age franchise has been silent since the 2014 entry Dragon Age: Inquisition. In BioWare’s November update earlier today, the studio’s general manger Casey Hudson stated, “If you’ve been following these blogs, or myself and Mark Darrah on Twitter, you know we’re also working on some secret Dragon Age stuff.” After the tease, Hudson would continue with, “Look for more on this in the coming month (though I won’t tell you where to look…)” That “where to look” line may be a major tease that more information will be coming at The Game Awards next week. This would make sense for an announcement to appear there with the aforementioned Anthem trailer being there, as well as Dragon Age: Inquisition winning Game of the Year honors in 2014.
The Game Awards this year will have over ten new game announcements. We also know that a new RPG from Obsidian will be there along with the possible debuts of Alien: Blackout and Rocksteady’s long rumored Superman game. Now, with the news Anthem will be there and possibly a new Dragon Age, next week can’t come soon enough. You can watch The Game Awards next Thursday, December 6 on streaming platforms everywhere.
