Following the game’s delay one week ago, many fans of the Rayman series wondered when they would see new information about the Rayman Legends Retold prior to the pushed back release. Their answer came earlier today as Ubisoft released a new game overview trailer breaking down each aspect of the game, including the story, characters, and gameplay that players can expect from the retelling of the classic game.
As the name suggests, Rayman Legends Retold focuses on reimagining the game as a bold new adventure while maintaining the aspects that made the classic so beloved. The platforming sections have received new visuals shown off in the trailer along with more complex layouts. These are augmented further by the introduction of Fairy Radiance, granting new abilities that can affect a player’s surroundings during platforming segments. Among the returning features, players will be able to play through the musical levels present in Rayman Legends.
The story also benefits from the changes being made for the new game. The trailer explains that in the new story, the Glade of Dreams will fall victim to a dark corruption stemming from Dark Teensies of the Land of the Living Dead. Rayman and his friends will need to travel through each of the realms to stop the corruption wherever it appears and rescuing the guardians of each realm from its dark effects. There will also be a new realm from which the darkness began, which players will unlock progressively as they make their way through the main story. The companion characters come complete with fully voiced dialogue for story sections that can be set to multiple languages.
In addition to the main story, the trailer also shows off new costumes for the characters along with minigames such as Kung Foot Evo with new arenas and power-ups or the challenges Cave of Trials. The game is set to release on December 3rd.
