Get ready to literally blast your way into Hell! The third-person shooter game Zombie Army 4: Dead War is getting a new campaign setting and downloadable content that sends the Alpha Squad straight into the depths of Hell in a new story-driven mission.
This new free update, titled ‘Return to Hell’ sends the players back to the underworld for the finale of the Season 3 campaign, where they must fight off the horrific creations of Schweiger’s mind and free him from Baron Umbra. Armed with only a gun and heroic spirit, the players traverse the fiery planes of Hell in order to save their former ally and finally get the answers they’ve been searching for.
The finale of the Season 3 storyline, Return to Hell thrusts our intrepid squad back into the underworld but this time it is a haunted manifestation of Schweiger’s mind which they must survive in order to free him from Baron Umbra.
But the Alpha Squad isn’t fighting alone. The new ‘Return to Hell’ update will add four familiar playable characters into Zombie Army 4. The popular Left 4 Dead 2 protagonists Coach, Ellis, Nick, and Rochelle will be featured in the new campaign, and are free to play once the new content is downloaded. So grab your new allies and throw them into the frontlines as they blast through literally hundreds upon hundreds of hellspawn!
Alongside all of this new content comes a new weapon in the form of a flare gun, as well as new cosmetics for characters, charms, and weapons alike. For more information, take a peek at the roadmap below.
Unfortunately, the Left 4 Dead 2 player characters are the only free aspect of Zombie Army 4’s new update. The rest of the updates, from the campaign to the cosmetics, are only available through purchase. The ‘Return to Hell’ campaign, as well as the cosmetics, will be included for players who own the Season 3 Pass. You can purchase any aspect of the new content, from the campaign to the cosmetics, as standalone purchases. The ‘Return to Hell’ campaign comes in at 6.99 USD. Players can also purchase the entire Season 3 Pass for 34.99 USD, which will include all downloadable content from Season 3.
