Zenless Zone’s Zero’s First Rate Up Character Set to Start the Game Strong

Zenless Zone Zero will be going live tomorrow July 4th, or earlier depending on your time zone, with most NA time zones going live tonight. The version 1.0 patch will feature a relatively tight knit cast of characters for players to pull for with 16 characters being available at launch. Of those 16, 6 are the standard banner 5 stars, of which one is guaranteed in 40 pulls on a beginner banner. Another is the first limited 5 star – Ellen Joe.

Ellen is an ice DPS character belonging to the Victoria Housekeeping faction specializing in a fast paced playstyle centered around using her charged dash attack to gather stacks of her personal passive. These stacks transform her basic attacks from physical damage to ice damage, and give her increased crit damage while using them. Balancing gaining and losing stacks will be a big part of Ellen gameplay.

Ellen’s best partner as of now is standard 5 star character Lycaon because he is an ice character from Victoria Housekeeping – meaning he fulfills both of Ellen’s core passives – and he is a great daze unit. Lycaon builds up the daze meter incredibly quickly and allows for his teammates to do far more damage to dazed enemies.

Possible third options for party members include Soukaku, a free 4 star ice support character that you can get copies of on Ellen’s banner, or Alexandrina, a standard banner 5 star electric character who also belongs to Victoria Housekeeping. One will give players a mono ice type, which many believe will be one of the strongest teams at launch, and the other will give players a mono-faction disorder team that might have a higher skill floor.

Overall, Ellen is already believed to be the best DPS in the game at launch and possibly a few versions beyond. For players looking to see more of Ellen before the game launches, players can enjoy her trailer and demo above and below respectively.
