Zenless Zone Zero, a free action roleplaying game developed by HoYoverse, is set to release on July 3rd for all platforms. Fairly inspired by Hypergryph’s Arknights (2019) aesthetics and plot, the game utilizes live combat with expressive animations and a vibrant cast. Before its official release, the game, according to the description on several social media sites such as Youtube, has pre-registration events running up until launch.
The plot of the game, according to their official YouTube description, goes as such:
This is a dangerous world under constant threat from the mysterious calamities known as the “Hollows”, where the old civilization has been destroyed and world order lays in ruins. Fortunately, one city is still capable of dealing with the calamities: New Eridu. A diverse group of people, each with their various reasons and beliefs gather here to challenge the Hollows. And you, are their indispensable accomplice who guides them out of the Hollows, their “Proxy”. This is your story.
Zenless Zone Zero‘s official website features bold, clean graphics reminiscent of games like Valorant (2020) and characters in the style of cyberpunk and techwear. The environment, as shown in official gameplay videos, are heavily influenced by Japanese cities. In official gameplay, the game boasts minigames, player dialogue options on phone chats, and a blocking/parrying mechanic in combat.
Developed by the same studio that created Genshin Impact (2020) and the Honkai series, the game has the studio’s iconic anime stylization, while keeping a separate aesthetic from its more high-fantasy oriented predecessors.
Currently, the final beta is ongoing. After that completes, the studio will then move on to prepare for the game’s launch date.
