Zelda: Breath of the Wild’s Release Date Pushed Up?

In November of last year, a report by blogger Emily Rogers stated that the release date for the much-anticipated Zelda: Breath of the Wild would be pushed back to about mid-2017, as opposed to the original rumored release date which had the game coming out at the same time that Nintendo’s new console, the Switch, is set to launch, in March. Today, however, there seems to be another change in the supposed release date, but this one will probably make many gamers happy.

According to a Eurogamer article, they have sources that have told them that Zelda: Breath of the Wild is in fact ready to go in March as a Switch launch title. Now before you start jumping for joy, read the next sentence. Apparently, these sources have all but confirmed that the game will likely be a launch title in Japan and North America, but that in Europe it could still have a mid-2017 release date as Nintendo works on localizing it to the best of their ability. Of course, fans want to have the best gaming experience possible, so the news that Nintendo wants to make sure their product is the best it can be before releasing it should bring some level of reassurance with it. But at the same time it will also be frustrating for many people waiting for the game to know that if they lived across the Atlantic they could be playing it months earlier.

This is all just speculation at this point and no release date has been confirmed by Nintendo. However, they plan to reveal the Switch in a livestream on January 12 at 8pm PT / 11pm ET, so it’s possible that they’ll tell us about some of the launch titles, which may or may not include Zelda.
