Yoshinori Ono, legendary producer behind Street Fighter IV and contributor to many other great Capcom games, has resigned from his position with Capcom Vancouver.

Yoshinori made waves on Twitter and in the gaming community when he tweeted early on Tuesday concerning his sudden and unexpected departure from Capcom Vancouver.

I resigned from the director position about CAPCOM Vancouver. Thanks good staff of CAPCOM Vancouver, and Dead Rising staff!

Thankfully for Capcom and fighting game fans around the world, Yoshinori Ono was quick to follow up on this statement with a series of follow-up tweets assuring fans that he would be remaining with Capcom. Though his time as director at Capcom Vancouver has come to a perfunctory close, he will continue to work with Capcom in his role as head of the company’s Consumer Games Development Division 2.

Yoshinori Ono’s career with Capcom has been a long and illustrious one, spanning not only Street Fighter IV and its innumerable tweaks and additions, but also titles in the Resident Evil and Onimusha series. His departure from Capcom Vancouver comes hot on the tail of E3, during which he spent time talking with the media about rumors concerning Street Fighter V and other projects he is speculated to be working on for Capcom.

For now, the game news media is eagerly awaiting more forthcoming details concerning the future of Yoshinori Ono’s career with Capcom. Not a lot of information is known about Yoshinori’s reasons behind parting his position with Capcom Vancouver, but whatever happens we can be assured to see him continuing to contribute to great games from one of the best companies in the business.
