In the video game industry, we often see titles moved back or delayed for a very long time. Very rarely do we ever see anything moved up from their original release date, and even more rare for major AAA projects. Somehow, someway, Nintendo and Monolith have announced that their upcoming title, Xenoblade Chronicles 3, will no longer be releasing in September 2022. Instead, it will now launch even sooner, on July 29, 2022, a near two month bump from the initially slated Fall time frame. They also released a brand new trailer to boot, cementing the new date and causing fans around the world to celebrate.
While no specific reason was given as to why Xenoblade Chronicles 3 was pushed up, it’s possible that Monolith was able to progress the development at a speedy pace that it was finished a while ago. This also comes off the heels of several delays for other IPs including Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League and most notably Breath of the Wild 2. As for the new trailer, it’s filled to the brim with some excellent new scenes, as well as the potential party size where we see up to seven characters together at some point.
In the trailer we also see two of the characters battling. During this fight, they combine into a fused mecha being dubbed the Ouroboros. In the game, you’ll take control of two protagonists, Noah and Mio, who leads a party from different countries. They’ll journey to a sacred land all while figuring out why their respective nations are at war with each other. Just like the previous two entries, this third iteration is already looking like it will have a massive world to traverse in, as well as an intricate system with excellent JRPG mechanics. Thankfully, we won’t be waiting long to get our hands on it, not anymore that is!
Xenoblade Chronicles 3 will now officially launch on July 29, 2022, and will be available exclusively for the Nintendo Switch.
