Qualifying for a job on one of Microsoft’s dynamic PR teams may be easier than you think. For example, it seems that owning an Xbox, prior knowledge of the industry, and “googling stuff” are not prerequisites for a job at an official Xbox Facebook page.
Yesterday, Xbox UK posted an image of a young lady cosplaying as a “Clicker” – an enemy type from the smash hit post-apocalyptic epic The Last of Us – along with the text, “Xbox booth at Gamescom – no brainer!” And while that pun was probably the highlight of a very short career in public relations, The Last of Us is unfortunately unavailable for the Xbox. In fact, the last time we checked, TLOU was a Ps3 exclusive and probably one of the more convincing reasons to join team PlayStation.
Of course, this isn’t the first time Microsoft have promoted their competitor’s products, having recently advertised Killzone: Shadow Fall on the Windows Netherlands Facebook page.
Maybe Xbox PR should play some more Xbox from now on.
