Encouraging fans to take part in the hype for the game with pre-orders and early installments of the game, Xbox had this to say to fans today on Twitter.
Taking place over the course of 1000 years of history, players can immerse themselves starting in the Middle Ages. The real-time strategy game has players make towns, build armies, and fighting opposing forces with their own armies. There are 32 civilizations for players to explore, ranging from Europe to the Middle East and the Far East. Players will find themselves interacting with notable historical figures such as Genghis Khan and Joan of Arc. The game will have each country speak in its respective language.
The remastered version now offers new trading cards, campaign expansions, and improved AI which will challenge players to come up with key strategies. It will also have workshop support as well as multiplayer online so players can take their armies and battle it out online against one another. Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition is currently available for pre-order as well as pre-installments for Xbox game pass holders. It is scheduled to be released on January 31, 2023, For Xbox consoles and Cloud Gaming.
