Ever since Microsoft announced they were going to release a new and improved version of the Xbox One in Project Scorpio, they’ve been showing it off and bragging about it like some sort of prize pig every chance they get. Now, according to a report by GameSpot, after being prompted by some questions on Twitter, Xbox boss Phil Spencer once again tooted his horn, saying the Scorpio will offer the “very best console version” of games this year.
After being asked on Twitter if games like Destiny 2 and Call of Duty will look better on Scorpio, Spencer responded:
I’m very confident, from what we are seeing and hearing, Scorpio will be the very best console version of games this year.
According to Microsoft, the Scorpio will be the “most powerful console ever made.” It has 6 teraflops of performance, with 326 GB/s of memory bandwidth. Microsoft also says that the Scorpio’s engine is the “most powerful console gaming processor ever created,” requiring a vapor chamber that uses “advanced liquid-cooling” to keep it from overheating.
That all sounds really cool, but if you don’t fully understand what all that means (like me), just know that the Scorpio will maximize the performance of every game it plays.
In other Microsoft news, Microsoft has been running through its E3 2017 game plans. They rehearsed an end-to-end run through of their E3 show yesterday, which looks to have taken all day. Also, Microsoft Studios boss Shannon Loftis said the company may soon be announcing a partial list of games it will be showing off at E3.
Fans will want to keep an eye out for the Xbox E3 show, which will take place Sunday, June 11, at 2 PM PT.
