Xbox Live Experiences Limited Services

Update 1/21: As of today services are still limited for Xbox 360 and Xbox One. In social and gaming functions, only cloud storage seems to be affected as stated on Xbox Live Service page. Also for Xbox One, some players have reported issues downloading previously purchased content, specifically content for Project Spark. The IGN and Maxim apps are reportedly experiencing launching issues as well. Microsoft teams are currently investigating the matter and you can expect updates on this article, as soon as information is available. Original Post: If you are having trouble managing your friends list or accessing cloud data on Xbox Live, you are not alone. This evening limited social and gaming functionality was reported by Microsoft. Xbox Support announced via Twitter that they are aware of the situation and have teams hard at work to resolve the situation.

Though the issues were discovered earlier this evening, as of now, Xbox’s support page states that social and gaming function services are still limited. The problems extend to Xbox 360 and Xbox One platforms, with some users reporting difficulty making purchases on the Windows Phone Marketplace. Players first reported issues managing and tracking friends lists online, while others had trouble retrieving stored cloud information. Also there were reports of users being unable to download Worlds in Minecraft for Xbox 360.

Last week, Xbox players also reported difficulty with Microsoft’s social and gaming functions, as reported by IGN. Players were unable to unlock/view achievements, upload game play, and again were unable to access their cloud storage. While the issues appear to be minor, video game players have certainly seen enough network downtime within the recent months. The holiday DDoS attacks certainly put a damper on not only Xbox Live accounts, but Sony’s PlayStation Network as well. Luckily Xbox Support teams seem to have the situation under control and should have services up again in no time.
