Planet of Lana II: Children of the Leaf was just revealed by the studio Wishfully at the Xbox Games Showcase on June 8th. The game builds on the lore, mechanics, and critical acclaim of the original Planet of Lana game.
The official reveal trailer is a cinematic, combined with what appears to be in-game scenes of Planet of Lana II: Child of the Leaf, which is set to release in 2026. We get a glimpse into the mysterious language that the people of the universe speak as we continue to follow the story of Lana and Mui. Although the robots of the original game are stated to have been defeated, the trailer seems to feature robot-like monsters anyway, suggesting that the statement may not be entirely true.
The game’s environment is also seen in the trailer and appears to be quite dynamic, varying from forests, fields, ruins, cliffs, snowy environments, water environments, and more. We also get a glimpse of characters wielding weapons and riding robotic constructions, suggesting they may be a part of the game as well.
Steam’s official page of the game contains many of the same tags as the original, suggesting that the core elements of the game, including puzzle solving, action sequences, and exploration, will remain intact. However, new features such as greater agility, wall jumps, slides, and more stealth mechanics will be added to the mix to increase tension and dynamism.
According to an a GameSpot article, the original composer of Planet of Lana, Takeshi Furukawa, will be returning to compose for the sequel. The art of the sequel is equally stunning and breathtaking, suggesting a similar direction in terms of art. As of right now, the game will be released on PC via Steam and on Xbox via the Xbox Game Pass sometime in 202,6 with more information expected from studio Wishfully soon.
