Microsoft has announced special new custom Xbox Series S system, along with two special custom Xbox controllers. Both the system and the controllers are part of a promotion with the upcoming Sonic The Hedgehog 2 film adaptation in which the console features both Sonic and Knuckles as well as a giant gold ring on the speaker section. The real eye catcher however are the controllers, which are shown in a blue and red color coding that represents Sonic and Knuckles. There’s just one major point that has the internet in a frenzy, both of the controllers are covered in heavy fur.
The initial fan response has been mixed to say the least. While they design’s themselves are intriguing, the actual execution has left many feeling slightly confused. The heavy fur on the controllers being the most poignant factor, as a huge majority of gamers pointed out that some of them tend to sweat on their hands when playing titles. As such, this can be a complicated situation with the fur material, which would also be followed with some internet humor in today’s age. Hopefully they’ll be much more functional than their appearance suggests.
Regardless of their design, these controllers as well as the system won’t be generally available to the public. Instead, Microsoft plans on making these the prize of a giveaway for a sweepstakes. For those who wish to enter, all you need to do is go to the Xbox Twitter account page and retweet the promo post with the hashtag #XboxSonic2Sweepstakes. Submissions for the giveaway end on April 30. The Sonic the Hedgehog 2 film releases next month on April 8, which already has sequel greenlit.
