On May 29th, developers Wargaming began Ultra Test 2 for World of Tanks Blitz Reforged, opening servers for the community to play test and releasing a number of changes to the game after receiving feedback from Ultra Test 1.
The official Wargaming website released an article and YouTube video detailing the differences between the two Ultra Tests. In response to community feedback regarding the interface, Tech Trees have been brought back into the game but grouped into sets, such as an “All Tanks” Screen that allows all tanks in the game to be seen, and new ways to filter game content have been added. Sets will also now be automatically researched and unlocked according to your current progress within World of Tanks Blitz.
The performance of the game has also been greatly optimized according to the feedback of the Ultra Test 1. The game should appear clearer with reduced blur effect, frame rates have been greatly stabilized, the classic enemy armor highlighting has been brought back, and the original colors of the game have been added. Vehicle speeds and controls have also been fine-tuned to bring it closer to the original game.
Many changes have also been made to in-game currency and the transfer of existing currency into Reforged. The originally controversial Commander Coins have been removed, with Crew XP being brought back under the name Commander XP. Similarly, the steel has also been removed from the game, allowing tanks to be bought for silver, which are essentially credits from the original game. Consumables and Premium shells will be transferred in full or compensated with silver, with prices being reverted to those of the original game. Simultaneously, the in-game economy has been rebalanced so that random battles provide greater silver while ranked battles provide more XP.
Several other quality-of-life changes have been made to the game regarding displays, animations, cross-platform compatibility, and customization, but the game still received criticism from the community. Major content creator of the game, Droodles Blitz released a video and post praising certain improvements but criticizing the monetization model of commanders, the transfer of premium certificates, and other decisions. Particularly, Droodles notes a lack of trust in regards with Wargaming’s ability to balance paid content in alignment with community consensus.
