Wonder Woman and Blue Beetle were announced at San Diego Comic Con as being a part of Injustice 2. The San Diego Comic Con reveal also went into detail about both of the characters, with Wonder Woman being improved upon and Blue Beetle making his first appearance in the Injustice games. We covered Injustice 2 at E3 this year and that coverage can be read here.
Wonder Woman
Wonder Woman is no longer limited to once set of weapons at a time like she was in the first Injustice. Wonder Woman no longer has to switch between weapons, all of them are available and can be combined to land a variety of weapon based combos. The weapons at Wonder Woman’s disposal include: the “Lasso of Truth”, “Bracelets of Submission”, and her Amazonian sword/shield combo. The lasso and shield can be used for ranged attacks, the sword for up close attacks, and her bracelets reflect projectiles. All of this makes Wonder Woman seems like a very well rounded brawler character, who with the addition of her bracelets is going to be difficult to spam.
Wonder Woman will also be able to summon the powers of various Greek Gods. Each Greek God will able to improve her abilities in different ways. The example given on the Sony announcement was that Hermes would improve how well she can move around and also grant her the ability to dash while in the air.
Blue Beetle
Blue Beetle makes his debut in a stunning fashion, showing off all the capabilities of his alien technology. Blue Beetle can transform his limbs into various melee weapons, as well as turn his arm into a blaster for long ranged projectile attacks. Blue Beetle also has excellent mobility because of his wings. His wings allow him to dash forward or backward in the air. Blue Beetle’s special power allows him to turn his arms into blades allowing for him to unleash a powerful barrage of close ranged attacks. The limitation on this ability is that he is unable to fire blasts, limiting him to close range combat, while in this mode. Blue Beetle is said to be a “Jack of all trades” type character, because of his ability to be effective form both close range and at a distance.
Injustice 2 is set to be released sometime in 2017 for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. The reveal trailer for Wonder Woman and Blue Beetle can be viewed below.
