Today, TomorrowHead Studios released a gameplay reveal trailer for their game Will: Follow the Light. The game will be available on PC through Steam, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X and S. There has not been an official release date for the game announced in the trailer, but according to the Steam page, it should be released at some point this year.
The gameplay trailer shows the setting of the game as well as some of the main plot of the game as well. The trailer also showed that players will be able to explore different environments on both land and sea, and that players will be able to drive a boat through the waters.
Will: Follow the Light is a story-driven, first-person adventure puzzle game that tells the personal journey of a lighthouse keeper named Will, and the goal for Will is to find peace and reunite with his family. Before Will can reunite with his family however, he must face a number amount of challenges, and ultimately discover himself.
There is more to the story, according to the Steam page, “You play as Will, a lighthouse keeper on a remote island in the northern seas. The story begins during one of your typically solitary shifts when an unexpected radio message shatters the routine. A sudden disaster has struck your hometown, and your only son is missing. Determined to find him, you must set out on a quest aboard your sailing yacht, Molly, navigating the treacherous northern seas.”
“The harder you search for your son, the more questions arise. What hidden truths lie in your bond with your own father? Where is your beloved wife? What has happened to your family? The answers are scattered across the unforgiving northern environments you explore — an abandoned island accessible only by sea, a mountain range traversable by dog sled, and your home now standing among ruins and accessible only on foot. Through the journey, you discover and confront truths about yourself, whether you’re ready for them or not.”
There are some key features that will be coming to the game such as players being able to see and explore northern landscapes on both land and sea, and the developers used Unreal Engine 5 to make it look as real as possible. Players will also be able to travel on a realistic sailing experience as well as mount a sled lead by dogs. There will be challenging puzzles to solve and players will also be able to listen to an atmospheric blend of experimental textures and instruments.
