Open world RPGs are among the most immersive games to date, making each new setting explored by various titles feel more alive. With the release of Where Winds Meet, players will get the chance to venture through tenth century China as a Wuxia hero with the freedom to shape the world as they see fit. Developed by Everstone Studio and published by NetEase Games, Where Winds Meet showed off the game’s final trailer before the game’s release later today.
The launch trailer focuses on each of the game’s core features, the story, world, and gameplay. In the opening scene, the main character is seen meeting a mysterious character who asks if he knows the road and declaring himself a wanderer before leaving. From there, the trailer cuts to show a detailed town with houses, a river, and countless villagers moving throughout. Next, the game shows off each of the key characters with quick introductions. More information can be found about them on the game’s official website. The trailer ends with an ominous allusion to a sword fight with an infant on the line.
The game itself will sport 20 unique regions that can be influenced by the decisions that players make throughout the course of a playthrough. Areas can be filled with towns or taverns for players to unwind in or dangerous temples for exploration. Combat will be variable between melee and ranged with an option for stealth attacks as well. Players will also be able to augment their character’s capabilities with different equipment to specialize their experience. The game also comes with a multiplayer mode, allowing players to create guilds to take on challenges such as raids or dungeons.
Where Winds Meet brings the open world genre to a setting that interests many people for its ancient stories and combat. Players will have a chance to play as the game’s sword master-in-training later today when the game launches on PS5 and Steam.
