From the appealing open-world gameplay to the series of the new updates that the game has been receiving since its launch, Where Winds Meet has built up a dedicated player base eager to hear more about the game’s first major update. Recently, the team satisfied these fans by releasing a new trailer and update post on the game’s official website announcing the release date for the Hidden Mountain update along with the design goals for the 2.0 release.
The trailer opens with the introduction of a massive cavern riddled with chains structures with flowing water. This grand scale is kept throughout the trailer, which transitions from movement atop giant mountains to exploration through dark structures that stretch on past the player’s vision. These changes will apply throughout the world according to the official website, with the goal of making the game feel even larger in scale in accordance with the original inspiration of the title. Specifically, vertical exploration will now go up to 2000 meters, vastly increasing the amount of playable space in the game.
The voice speaking throughout the trailer hints at the new story update coming, telling the story of a wise king who discovered fire, coinciding with the main character fighting off multiple boss enemies that utilize fire. The trailer also features multiple automated enemies, culminating in the final shot of a titanic construct obscured by the fog. These mechanical creatures are the focus on the next part of the story, which will see the player teaming up with old allies to explore the Mohist domains. This extends to the combat updates coming to Where Winds Meet as well, forcing players to adapt to foes with unfair mechanical advantages and using new tools such as the gauntlet weapon type.
In addition to the new world, story, and gameplay updates, the graphics of the game will also be receiving a substantial improvement, culminating in what the team has promised to be a fresh by familiar experience. The new update is set to release on July 23rd.
