WHAT THE GOLF? Turns Anything and Everything Into a Mini-Golf Experience

Triband, the Danish game studio, is known for their games, Keyboard Sports – Saving QWERTY, and Progress to 100. For their next project, WHAT THE GOLF?, Triband decided to make things bigger and better, and they also decided to improve on mini-golf by making everything mini-golf game. The idea was such a hit amongst fans that Triband’s crowd funding campaign on Fig has almost reached its goal in just a few days.

“Hitting things and see them fly is by far the most fun, but why limit this to small balls?” says Triband Creative Director, Tim Garbos, in a press release. “First there was golf, then mini golf and disc golf. We present new classics such as horse golf, space golf, and boss fight golf.” There are many more golf game variants, and if you want to love the game even more, then check out the announcement trailer below to get an even deeper look into what the game could have to offer.

The crowd funding campaign on Fig has been doing better than expected for the title. The campaign launched on February 14th, and as of today, the campaign has made 98% of its $50,000 goal. WHAT THE GOLF?‘s funding is expected to surpass the $50,000 mark, so to make use of the extra cash, stretch goals were created for the campaign. At $65,000, Triband will create the impossible golf challenges, at $100,000, they will implement local multiplayer battle, and the final stretch goal sits at $200,000, which will bring a golf course level editor.

The campaign has been such a massive success so far that the developers have decided to release a prototype of the game for anyone to play. Even if you have not pledged money through Fig, you can still go to the campaign page and download the prototype to try out. The Fig campaign will run until March 23rd, and the pledge tiers go from $10, to $20, to $45, to $100, and $578, but you can still pledge whatever amount you want.

WHAT THE GOLF? is expected to release sometime within Q2 of 2018.
