The Arizona Sunshine franchise has been a beloved staple for zombie lovers for years. The first installment was a VR first person shooter that was full of as much gore as it was comedy, luring players in to its outrageous gameplay that would create a loyal fanbase to this day. Ten years later, developer Vertigo Games is ready to revamp what started it all.
In a reimagined version of their VR game, Arizona Sunshine (2026) is a third-person, co-op, zombie shooter that keeps all the charm the franchise is known for. A recent release of their gameplay trailer gives players a peak into what to expect, and it is as unique and “gore-gerous” as the original.
Players can expect as much gore as there was before with a reactive gore system that makes it feel as though the apocalypse is truly happening. With various methods to choose from to even the odds with the undead, some that are showcased in the trailer are: quick firing guns to take down a horde within the blink of an eye, barrels of gasoline that can ignite with a single bullet, and humerous combat. Sunny, the main character, has the ability to do combat moves seldom seen in zombie games such as leg sweeps and elbow drops.
The fun of this gory adventure can only get better when you bring friends along in online co-op or classic split screen. Friends can take on the zombies with an array of weapons, or opt to maul them as Buddy the dog. Make each gaming session memorable with a locker full of hilarious outfits that add to the comedic experience; outfits like an inflatable T-rex, a hot dog, and even a unicorn costume with a pink tutu for Buddy.
Arizona Sunshine can be wishlisted now on Steam, Epic Games, Nintendo, Xbox, and Playstation stores.
