With an expected release date of early 2027, Name of the Will has already had its fair share of praises. Currently, the game has a total of six awards to its name. These awards regard the creepy nature, social impact, and power of choice within the game; most recently, it has won Indie Arena Booth at gamescon 2026.
Name of the Will follows the story of 3279, a person seemingly plopped right into the middle of a cult called HOPE. With no idea how they got here, they are on a learning curve on how to act accordingly. Players will get to choose 3279’s decisions, which could lead into approval or punishment. Every hesitation, stray thought and refusal is carefully watched by everyone around them and recorded with HOPE’s seven-strike conduct system. All strikes will lead to mysterious outcomes to correct the main character’s behavior. The only way to survive is by following everyone’s lead: wear a painted smile, perform daily duties, ace the education courses, cooperate during interrogations, and select the day’s victim for “painful Reformation rituatals.”
At night, however, 3279 dedicates themself to figuring out why they are there. With much to explore in a 34-floor facility, staying low should be easy, but it is far from it. In the midst of hacking systems and infiltatating off-limits backstage areas, the Benevolent Father–HOPE’s leader–is constantly walking the halls not too far away. One wrong move can put 3279 at risk of being caught, meaning they will be sacrificed for their disobedience.
Pain is freedom. Even death becomes the highest honor. Let your troubles lose their sting, let mourning fall away, and find the relief you have been denied.
